About
An independent practice, rooted in the Roanoke Valley
Serving the Roanoke area for more than 11 years, caring for families from Cave Spring to Franklin County.
Kartesz Eye Care began with a straightforward goal: give this community the kind of eye care people used to get from a family doctor — someone who knows your history, remembers your work, and has time to explain what they see.
Today we care for patients of every age, from infants having their first exam to seniors managing glaucoma, macular degeneration, or diabetic eye disease. That range is deliberate. Eye health is a lifelong record, and the value of that record grows with every year we keep it.
We pair that continuity with genuinely current technology. Digital retinal imaging, OCT scanning, and automated visual fields let us detect change in microns rather than waiting for symptoms. When treatment beyond our scope is needed, we co-manage with trusted surgeons and keep your follow-up care here.
And because how you see the world is also how the world sees you, our offices include a full optical staffed by opticians who fit and adjust every pair properly.

How we practice
What guides our care
Unhurried exams
We schedule enough time to actually examine, explain, and answer questions. You should leave knowing what we found and why it matters.
Prevention over reaction
Most sight-threatening disease is silent early. Our imaging protocol is built to detect change before you notice it.
Independent and accountable
We're doctor-owned. Recommendations come from clinical judgment, not a corporate script.
Care that stays local
When surgery or a specialist is the right step, we coordinate it and handle your follow-up close to home.
